OLE' - The College Fest

This Annual Intra–College event brings with it new surprises, new challenges, new winners and lots of fun and frolic. The event receives tremendous response from the students and staff of different departments, both from the junior and senior college, which leads to the excitement of the celebration.

The various sports, creative and cultural events held are :

This year the fest was based on the theme ‘The Wilforian Throne’ and it was held on a large scale at the intercollege level.

POLARIS - Wilson BMM Fest

Polaris started in 2001, as one of the first media festivals in the city.

It is also the first inter-collegiate festival in the academic year. Polaris has a distinctive theme every year. The theme in 2010 – 11 was Vintage Media. It was the first festival to feature vintage cars, vintage movies and still cameras.

The theme for 2011 – 12 festival is Carnivals. The date for 2011 – 12 festival is 15th, 16th & 17th July 2011. Polaris is one of the most popular media festivals and more than 30 Colleges which have BMM, participate.

The past unfolds through the pages of the WILSONIAN. Never content to be a silent spectator, the magazine voices the changing face of society, through the changing concerns of the student community. The history of the college has its permanent records through the WILSONIAN.

Special issues 1957 – 1958. 125 years of Wilson College

1982– Sesquicentennial issue

1997-1998 – 50 years of Indian Independence. Articles by eminent freedom fighters and the role of the Wilson College in the freedom struggle.

1999-2000-2001 – 2 Millenium issues- an updated record of the college and its activities

In 1994 and 1999, the WILSONIAN was awarded the M.V. Chandgadkar Trophy for the Best College Magazine.

Currently, it is a record of all the activities of all the academic departments and offers a campus review of the various co-curricular activities and programmes of the college.

ADOREA - Wilson BMS Fest

The stage was set; the red carpet was rolled out, paparazzi waited in eager anticipation for the revelation of much yearned for fest of the year – ADOREA. With the decorative skill of the organiser’s receiving immense commendation, ADOREA 2010 welcomed the world of Glamour into its aged backyard with its theme “Glam & Glitz”.

The much hyped inauguration lived up to its expectations, as slated renowned personalities like Mr. Vithal Kamat- Owner of Orchid Group of Hotels and Mr. Boman Irani- Theatre artist and Actor were in attendance. The chief guests marvelled at the ability of the dancers whose performance led to a sudden infliction of vigour. The traditional “Victory Song” which followed, defined a lot more than Adorea for the organisers and offered a spectacle to all others.

The inauguration was followed by an awe-inspiring lecture by Mr. Kamat. It was truly an exceptional experience for many present to witness one of the most distinguished personalities of the industry share his views amongst their midst.

The events that followed were packed with the presence of students from across Mumbai. NMIMS, Hinduja, St. Xaviers, Sydenham, St. Andrews were some of the twenty eight colleges that graced the seventh edition of this mega fest which invites all departments.

DUCATI MUMBAI chose ADOREA as a platform to launch its latest model DUCATI 1098 which was displayed throughout the event.

‘HOPE’- Adorea’s Annual social drive achieved another milestone by not only continuing its association with Jeevan Asha, an old age home but also aiding the under-privileged children of Bal Bhavan.

Snapparazzi and Bulls and Bears were new additions to the event list and were well received by the participants. Treasure Hunt, unlike its previous few editions broke free to be recognised as a major event with students going as far as Dadar for the hunt.

The turn up for the sports events was exceptional, with over eight sports events slated to be conducted within four days, the management was on tip toes but did live up to its merit. Throw ball and basketball was introduced for girls, another step forward for ADOREA.

The much awaited cultural events lived up to its expectation, solo singing was judged by Mr. Piyush Kanochia- Music Director and his presence was apt with the energy the event created for the rest of the day. Adorea Face of the Year followed and Ms. Manisha Kelkar- Super Model & Film Actor graced the occasion, as ADOREA witnessed numerous beautiful faces with remarkable talents on its very stage. The first night of cultural events ended with a jam packed college hall for the Fashion Show in spite of it being a Sunday which was judged by Ms. Meghna Naidu- TV actor.

Solo Dance displayed a lot of flexibility, and as the spotlight decided the person who will perform it became a challenge for the participants. Group dance was judged by Mr. Sanjay Yadav- Dancer & Choreographer.

ADOREA came to an end with its Band event and the DJ night. Seven bands competed in the finals. The event was judged by the members of one of the most famous youth bands – The BLAKC.

ADOREA to the students means:

To be unwell yet making it to carry out your responsibility ……. confused within but reassuring other’s…..Another colleague will tell you …That’s Adorea……….

To respect the ones who taught you the trade…… and the silent understanding that making it bigger would only mean respect all the more ……..That’s Adorea……..

To compete with not one but………two mega events ……. and still live to tell the tale………….That’s Adorea……

None of what has been written……….would make sense ……unless you know VICTORY………That’s ADOREA”

BIO MOSAIC - Micro/BioTech Fest

The students of Microbiology and Biotechnology organize the Intra-College event Bio Mosaic. Various activities like Brain Vita, Brain Bowl, Graffiti, debate, Treasure Hunt, Fossil Painting and Photography are held and many Mumbai colleges participate every year. The response to the event is very good with strong positive feedback from the participants.
