Accounting and Finance plays a prominent role in today’s modern Business era. Accounting and Finance education equips students with the essential skills and know-how to pursue a huge variety of career possibilities in diverse sectors. One wishes expert like economist/financialist/accountants with state-of-the-art practical expertise that can examine, evaluate, and analyse the intricacies of large-scale business and professions to achieve economic growth of an era or a country. Accounting and Finance also plays a vital role in the economic development of a country. Hence, education institutions are established to educate and train students in these field with greater emphasis on practical knowledge that shall take the advantage of this. With the view to bridge the gap between industry demand and the academic curricula and increasing demand for trained educated professionals in the field of Accountancy and Finance, the Department of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) i.e. BAF was introduced in the year 2016-17.
BAF is a three-year comprehensive programme with the objective to improve self-employment and it provide benefits to corporate organizations by providing them with suitable trained students in the field of Accounting & Finance including Cost Accounting, Auditing, IT, Taxation, Economics, Business Law and Business communications, by mode of professional interactions, presentations, projects, guest lectures, industrial visits and internships. The Department of BAF aims at maintaining academic excellence and equipping students with the skills necessary to face the challenges of the business world in accounting and finance as well as all-round development of the student’s personality. It gives a global perspective on investment markets and asset classes, provide practical as well as theoretical knowledge on the processes and mechanics underlying investment, and build on students' existing numerical skills so that they can understand and practice investment-related mathematics. The reformed syllabus caters to the growing and varying needs of students to upscale and be competitive to the changing needs of the modern business world.
The Department of BAF regularly conducts Seminars, Technical Workshops, Quiz competitions and Guest lectures as it is considered an important part of the learning process. Further, the Internship initiatives help students of BAF to train and provide work experience under different sectors / industries be it from a large multinational corporation to a small start-up entity. The Department also ensures to conduct Parents-Teacher meetings on a regular basis. Other aspects which are taken care of, by the department of BAF, is encouraging the students to participate in research work through research papers/ publications conducted in conferences, organizing mentoring sessions as well as remedial lectures, placement drive etc. The Department of BAF also organizes Calligo, an annual Inter Collegiate fest Event. The Fest is sponsored by popular brands and hosts a variety of events including debate, competition, quiz etc. in the two days long fest.

Short Biography:
Mr. Siddhesh Kolge holds a Master of Commerce (Advanced Accountancy) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the University of Mumbai. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Commerce and Business Studies at Somaiya Vidyavihar University. His academic interests include financial education, employability, digital innovation in commerce, and SDG-based frameworks in higher education. He has published research papers in UGC CARE-listed and peer-reviewed journals and authored book chapters on topics such as digital finance, women entrepreneurship, and educational transformation. He also played a major editorial role in the book “Empowering SDG 4 through Education to Employment: Closing the Skill Gap.†Mr. Kolge is actively involved in curriculum development, departmental coordination, and organizing academic initiatives.
